Safety, Order Terms & Privacy

Everything you need to know before bringing My First Desk to your students, in plain language.

Safety & Warnings

My First Desk is made for children ages 4 and up, and it's designed to be used with a grown-up nearby. Please read this before your kits reach the classroom.

⚠ WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD — Small parts.Not for children under 3 yrs.

What this means

  • The kit contains small parts. Some pieces, like beads, clips and dice (among others), are small enough to be swallowed or to block a child's airway.
  • Not for children under 3. Keep kits, loose pieces and packaging away from babies and toddlers, including younger siblings at home.
  • Always use with adult supervision. Children should use My First Desk with a teacher, aide or parent present. Please don't leave children alone with the kit.

Tips for safe use in the classroom and at home

  1. Open each kit yourself and check the contents before handing it to a child.
  2. Talk with children about keeping pieces out of their mouths, noses and ears.
  3. Store kits closed and out of reach when not in use.
  4. Count small pieces at clean-up, and keep the kit away from younger children.
  5. Throw away plastic bags and packaging right after opening.
  6. Check pieces regularly. Remove anything that's broken or worn.

Safety testing

Kits ship only after required third-party safety testing and certification are complete. A Children's Product Certificate (CPC) will be available on request once issued. Email hello@myfirstdesk.info.

If something goes wrong

If a child is choking, call 911 immediately. For questions about a swallowed piece, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222.

To report a safety concern about the product, email hello@myfirstdesk.info with your order number. We review every report.

Order Terms

These terms apply to every order placed on myfirstdesk.info. By placing an order, you confirm you are authorized to buy on behalf of your school or organization and agree to these terms.

Who we are

My First Desk is a brand of Boston Labs Design + Manufacturing, LLC.

What you're ordering

  • Kits are sold by the Classroom Carton: 12 kits per carton (SKU MFD-12).
  • Your price is locked in when you place your order.
  • Shipping is calculated at checkout (see Shipping & Delivery).
  • Coupon codes are issued by My First Desk, apply only as stated when issued, and may have usage limits. Coupons can't be added after an order is placed.

Pre-orders and delivery

  • Current orders are pre-orders.
  • Estimated delivery: Spring 2027. Kits ship only after production is complete and required safety testing and certification are finished.
  • We'll email you a shipping confirmation when your order ships.
  • If your estimated delivery changes, we'll tell you right away by email with a new date. You may then cancel for a full refund, or keep your order.

Payment

Nothing is charged when you place a pre-order.

  • Purchase Order: Enter your PO number at checkout and email the signed PO to hello@myfirstdesk.info. If we don't receive the signed PO within 30 days of your order, your pre-order may be cancelled. We invoice when your order ships. Payment is due Net 30 from the shipment date.
  • Credit or debit card: Your card is securely saved at checkout through our payment processor, Stripe. It's charged the order total when your order ships. If the charge doesn't go through, we'll email you to update your card before shipping.
  • Paying early (optional): If your organization would like to pay before shipment, for example to use earmarked or grant funds, use the Pay now link in your order confirmation email to pay securely by bank transfer (ACH) or card. Prepaid orders are fully refunded if we cancel or can't deliver, or if you cancel under these terms.

Your order is confirmed once we have your signed PO, your saved card or your payment.

Changes and cancellations

  • You may change or cancel your order at no charge until December 31, 2026. Email hello@myfirstdesk.info with your order number.
  • After that date, orders are firm, because we commit to production based on them.
  • If we can't meet the delivery estimate, you may cancel at any time as described above.

Sales tax and tax exemption

  • We collect Massachusetts sales tax (6.25%) on orders delivered in Massachusetts unless the buyer is tax-exempt.
  • Tax-exempt Massachusetts schools and organizations: enter your exemption number at checkout and email a signed Form ST-5 with a copy of Form ST-2 to hello@myfirstdesk.info. Public schools may provide equivalent documentation of government status.

Vendor documents

Shipping & Delivery

  • 1–7 cartons ship by UPS Ground. 8 or more cartons ship on pallets by LTL freight.
  • We ship to addresses in the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii (by parcel).
  • Please give us an accurate delivery address, a contact name and a phone number. Freight carriers call ahead to schedule delivery.
  • LTL freight deliveries include liftgate service. Let us know about a loading dock, delivery-hour limits or multiple drop-off locations before your order ships, as these can change the freight cost.
  • Inspect your shipment on delivery. Note any visible damage on the carrier's delivery receipt before signing.
  • Report damaged, missing or incorrect items within 7 days of delivery, with photos, to hello@myfirstdesk.info. We'll replace or credit them.

Returns & Replacement Parts

  • Damaged or defective items are always replaced or credited when reported as described in Shipping & Delivery.
  • Unopened cartons may be returned within 30 days of delivery for a refund, less return shipping. Email us for a return authorization before sending anything back.
  • Opened kits can't be returned for hygiene and safety reasons.
  • Missing or lost pieces? Email us with your order number and a description of the piece. We'll send a replacement when available.

Privacy Policy

We collect only what we need to fulfil your order and support your school, and we never sell your information.

What we collect

  • Contact and organization details: name, title, school or organization, email, phone and addresses you give us when you order, request a quote or request our Vendor Packet.
  • Order details: products, quantities, PO numbers and tax-exemption information.
  • Payment details: handled by Stripe. We don't see or store full card or bank account numbers.
  • Website usage: basic analytics and cookies that help us understand how the site is used.

How we use it

  • To process, ship and invoice orders, send quotes and documents, and answer your questions.
  • To send updates about your order and, if you opt in, occasional news from My First Desk. You can unsubscribe at any time.
  • To improve our website and products.

Who we share it with

Only the service providers that help us run the business, such as our payment processor, shipping carriers and fulfilment partners, email and website hosting, and only as needed to provide those services. We may also share information when required by law. We do not sell or rent personal information.

Children's privacy

This website is intended for adults: educators, administrators, organizations and families. It isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Your choices

You can ask us to access, correct or delete your information at any time by emailing hello@myfirstdesk.info. We keep order records as long as needed for accounting and legal requirements.
